A client, a lifestyle magazine, needed some graphics for their new online portal. Usually, we would have taken some stock photos and would have placed some text anywhere in a corner of the photos.
But I had the feeling, that scrolling through hundrets of photographs from a stock image provider, looking for the right faces, positions and gestures, would take longer than “just do it”. So I did it (of course the account manager who was communicating with the client knew what I was doing, otherwise we would have runned the risk of loosing working hours).
I drew the persons in the positions we needed, added a reduced colour palette (based on the client’s corporate identy) and voilá – the job was done.
And the client was happy. 🙂
Below are the raw illustrations I did in pen and ink.
