A while ago, a known bank asked the advertising agency I was working for, to pitch ideas for their new product, which was an online broker service where clients could buy and sell stocks and ETFs (fonds). My project manager had the idea of using a bear, because a bear has a special meaning in stocks. As well as bulls. But instead of a bull, the client asked for a cow.
So I designed a bear and a cow character.
I felt, that a completely clean design would not be the right choise. Buying and selling stocks is something that should be done with a clear head and by taking calculated risks. But still, the buyers would be humans, and I felt, that intuition might also be a part of the decision process. So I wanted the characters to have a certain edgy-ness. Combined which clean coloured shapes (like the cloths).
I was really fun to create these characters and I was very happy, that the client liked them. The figures then were used in severeal online advertising campaigns.
We also needed several symbols which represented the products which were to be sold via the online platform. I did them as a mix of 3D and 2D techniques.
