Cartoon Concept Design for an Exhibition

I was hired to create the look for a series of animated explaining videos for a museum. The videos were between 3 and 10 minutes long and should deal with different epochs of Lower Austrians history.

As kids would watch these videos while the parents were reading the texts of the exhibition, I wanted to create a look that would be appealing to children from 5 to 12 years. But at the same time, the look should be able to transport abstract ideas (like industrialisation) and handle themes like the Holocaust (which was also part of the exhibition).

You can find some of the final animations here.

So I went for a papercut illustration style.
